Aloha Frands!
It’s safe to say that fashionistas have a love and hate relationship when it comes down to fashion trends. We love to see new and exciting fashion elements appearing in our feeds on our favorite influencers, online ads, and endless shopping options in our favorite retail stores. It is also equally as annoying because fashion trends become mainstream that we even come see them on the shelves of the Family Dollar. That’s exactly how I feel when it comes to the color: neon green.
Historically referred to as lethal and toxic( seriously, check the cliff notes here), neon green has gotten a bad rap from the start. It’s been described as unflattering, but most of all, it is known for making a statement! And that’s precisely is why I have fallen in love with this unique, sometimes misunderstood, yet bold color because it says so much about who you are and what kind of risk you’re willing to take in the name of fashion!
Though the neon green trend has been around since 2018, there is no denying that it is still going strong. It is rebellious AF, and it doesn’t fit in anywhere. A shade that speaks my kinda language. In my efforts to ease into this trend and not look slimy, I decided to take it slow and start with one piece. Beginning with one piece at a time does not overwhelm me or scare me from trying something new, but it also gives me the confidence to go a bit further next time.
That’s why I was so happy to come across this Eloquii skirt a month or so ago. It was the perfect introduction to the neon green trend. Pairing it with a black and white tee and denim jacket looked the right amount of casual chic for working in your living room or running errands. Shoes complete the look and also assist in defining the vibe. For an about town look, I decided to pair it with a white pair of booties. Considering it’s Summer, you also can pair it with sandals or sneakers, and it will set this look off. There are options, frand!
Trying something new can be very intimidating, especially if something makes you stand out! But instead of running away from it and not trying it out, you have the freedom to try it at your own pace. Today it’s a skirt or top, and tomorrow is an entire monochrome look! Regardless of how cliquish a trendy may be, remember you can make it your own and on your own terms, as long as you keep in mind the main thing:
Have fun!

What fashion trend have you tried or want to? Was it a win or a “oh girl… NO!?”
